Avast keeps telling me i have a virus/worm in the file c:\windows\system32\drivers\atapi.sys, but everytime i delete it windows 7 can't start and i have to go into recovery mode and restore to a recent point. This virus won't let me update windows or AVG or any other program i try to update that protects me, can someone help me to replace this file or clean this worm, thanks

I have had the same problem. Just turn your computer on and the builkt in repair system should repair the file. It has removed a system file needed to boot the computer. I had to try it several times but eventually it worked but it did remove my virus protector (weird) and a couple of smaller programs.

All else fails put in your Windows 7 and ask it to reinstall and it should back up your current information into Windows Old and only reinstall the files needed.

Good luck
