If you updated anti malware before you ran it & it didn't find anything, delete recguard. You don't need it anyway.

recguard is a program that protects the recovery partition on HP PCs from people who might do something stupid.

If you want to post the log, post it. I'll look at it tonight.

If that's the entire log file, it's clean but I don't think it is.

I will try. BTW where it shows my model it shows an acer aspire 5610z. That is my laptop it runs XP. My desktop is Vista and is a Compaq Presario SR2170NX. I will try some other things If that file is for the HP Recovery I hate to delete it. Maybe I should e-mail Compaq.

That means that something in the startup is conflicting with recguard. Run msconfig, go to the startup tab & disable whatever you don't need to load at startup, which is most everything. Reboot, click Ok.

Also, look at the event viewer for errors.

I unchecked everything in msconfig and still have the problem. The only thing that runs at startup is windows defender. Maybe the problem has to do with Windows defender.

I don't know why you don't want to delete that file. At least burn it to a CD in case you want to reinstall it, then delete it.

I just thought of something else. Look at the event viewer for errors.
