Recently i have had a problem connecting to aol instant messenger. Its default is to use port 5190. But when i set it to autoconfigure, it goes to port 21 and i can connect right away. If i reset it goes back to 5190, but then i cant get connected or it takes forever, or im constantly disconnected. So i manually go back to port 21. Is port 21 safe to use, is my question. And would anyone know why all of a sudden this would start doing this?
any ideas or answers would be greatly appreciated.

XP Home sp1., Compaq Presario 55030NX, 256mb ram, AMD Athlon, dw6000 satellite

Thats wierd. I'm not sure why, all I know is that port 21 is the default port for FTP...
