Comment:
A friend of mine (true AOhL fan since day 1) has been on DSL for the past 2 yrs and still insists on using AohL software...YIKES!!!
I had her PC set up with Avast and Comodo Pro and it was running great. All of a sudden she figures she needs more security so she upgrades? from 9.0 optimized to 9.0 Security...what a fiasco! I had no idea that the security she installed was McAfee bloatware Suite and her PC went right to a standstill. Here she is with 2 AV's Running, 2 Firewalls PLUS the windows SP2 firewall and of course the firewall included in her wireless router.
Now that is HEAVILY armed LOL! So today I spent almost 5 hours cleaning out the bloatware because it was imbedded everywhere!

Still her PC is running quite slow and yes I did clean out all the spy and adware.

I used all the usualls:
Spyware Blaster
Spybot S&D
Adaware SE
x-cleaner scan
Housecall
Bit Defender
and Spyware terminator
There were no problems in Hijackthis.

Anyone have any ideas how to speed up her PC after this fiasco? She really doesn't want a fresh install...way too much to get off her HD.
Oh, I also tried an sfc /scannow and replaced a few files and I used regcleaner to get out the rest of McAfee.

I guess this is a lesson to be learned...more AV's and firewalls only SLOW things down that's for sure! Why would AOL even think of getting McAfee? To me that is quite a joke! That's for sure

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
