Does anyone know of a free online spyware and or virus scan?
I need it to plugin into my web site which will help pupils and parents at my school by detecting problems with their computers.
It needs to be free and preferably not be overloaded with "buy now" links and ads.

go to free.grisoft.com . There might be criteria as you are using it for a school but read what that is on the site. The software is called AVG and I heard it was the market leader. There is also NOD32 I think it is called. Check sites like tucows.com and lightspeed.alturl.com .

Yah, well, it's kind of expected that you would try and answer your own question by means a simple internet search before throwing up your hands and asking a grownup.

Computing.net is not Google - why waste the volunteers' time by posing n00bish questions?

Lazy, or just challenged?

You would do better to encourage them to get a free AV (such as AVG or Avast) installed on their machines if they have nothing already onboard. Online scanners are normally used after people have got the problem, which is not the best way round.

Trend and Panda are OK if they need to resort to online scanners. Even these require a small install.

True enough

Computing.net has a list of links to various security tools (including Panda) at the top of the forum page - hidden in plain sight apparently ; )
