I am running Norton Internet Security 2004. All of a sudden I seem not to be able to run liveupdate. I have connection to the internet plus my subscription expires next year. The error I am getting is "LU1803 - LiveUpdate failed while getting your updates. LiveUpdate had an internal error while getting your update". I eventually had to go to the symantec site to download the virus definition. Help needed

Try going to the Symantec website - use one of the links under 'help' on the main program screen - & then use the site search for your error message - lu1803 - it will give you a link to various troubleshooting methods.

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/sharedtech.nsf/docid/2002071909270613?OpenDocument&src=_mi&product=LU&version=2.0&language=english&module=LU&error=1803&build=Symantec

you can download and reinstall the live update portion of your software from symantec.com and it will fix the issue.

I tied all the sections relating to the error found on the symantec website and still have the error. I even reinstalled the whole Northon Internet security and still can't run liveupdate. What other suggestions are there?

Download
Avast! 4 home edition
Then make sure to disable Norton, load up Avast! and do an up-date and scan. If it lets you do an up-date, I would suggest totally uninstalling Norton and use Avast!
It has great free on-line up-dates as you surf and will notify you if you go to a page or site that has a virus. It is real user friendly and also FREE....If that doesn't work, post back....I would say you might have some malware on your PC that is causing your problems.
You never said anything about a firewall....if it is included in Norton Security (I'm not sure myself if it is)and you just recently got up-dated to SP2, you may have The XP firewall running also. You can only use 1 firewall at a time so disable one or the other. That could also be stopping your on-line up-dates.
friendly and helpful for better computing in all areas *smile*
