Hi A friends pc was infected with antivirus2009 among a few other things it runs a clever copy of xp security center suggesting you download more malware, which unwittingly he did its convincing enough, i have cleared it off using malwarebytes and Avg. (his mcaffee didnt pick it up) I can ping google etc and recieve a ttl reply. Ie7 nor firefox dont connect just a blank page not even a an error. any ideas? thanks in advance

hi ignys that link is exactly the one, heres the screen av09 malware security center pop up i think he clicked the license link, :( thats where the problems began http://www.spywareremove.com/spywar... the pc has the virus removed plus a few others vundoH and downloader trojans , but the problem persists no internet via IE7 or firefox. Some one has suggested a fix which i will try out, if successful i will post back thanks

hi update & fix sort of. after several trips around the block with avg free, malwarebytes d/l off another pc and a lot of viruses quarantined, no internet by Ie7 but can ping google etc from cmd, decided to to use netsh command netsh int ip reset reset.log netsh winsock reset catalog didnt do anything obvious, so uninstalled the network card, reboot, let xp sp3 redetect and reinstall the nic and driver, i reconfigured the dhcp to auto & the microsoft web site 'appears' suggesting a update to ie7 , hmmm so did that, d/l & reinstalled ie7. probably over wrote somthing. so in conclusion the 'viri' trashed somthing , reseting the nic avg free updated & promptly found another virus. not an very elegant way of re-configuring xp but seems to have worked, but i didnt want to reinstall xp as it was oem. Still cant understand why mcafee didnt find anything yet avg free did, consigned mcafee to the uninstall bin. :)
