Save your money. I wouldn't buy any of them. None of them can keep up with the amount of viruses being written on a daily basis. At least a few times a week, Someone posts a Hijack This log showing the malware and the anti virus software running at the same time. Why didn't the anti virus software see the malware? It was right there in the same registry.

I run MJRegWatcher and set it to lock the registry.

I never click on an attachment unless I requested it.

There are more than enough free solutions out there to keep
you protected if you use the Internet sensibly and don't do
anything stupid. Of course, viruses are getting more
sophisticated and the attacks are getting harder to fend off.

But I personally prefer to use lightweight anti-virus
protection that interferes minimally with the jobs that I need
to get done. Some of the popular commercial solutions are
system drainers and get in the way too much, forcing me to
verify processes that I know are safe.

Symantec/Norton causes more conflicts with other programs than any of them. It tries to take over your machine. To uninstall it, you have to download a special program.

In 12 years using Norton/Symantec, I've never had a problem with it. We also use the Enterprise version where I work.

And, no you don't have to run a special program to uninstall it. There is one available though, but it's not necessary.

That's the link for the Norton Removal Tool that you say isn't needed.

I'm glad you haven't had any problems in the last 12 years using Norton. You must be truly blessed.
