try avast free (IMO it has the best realtime protection) and make sure to let avast do a bootscan on reboot, because I know Norton missed lots of stuff , AND ALSO, be sure to go to the norton website and use their uninstaller or no other AV will work on ur PC.
You can find avast in the link below

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Never detects anything could be a good thing, unless you're positive you have a virus on your computer. I prefer Norton above all other anti-virus programs, but that's just my $.02.

In my computer I prefer to use Avira Antivir Personal Edition.
Its free and it is very powerful in detecting and stopping viruses and other malicious programs. I felt very secure in this antivirus...... :)

actually, norton is a memory hog, i would not use norton even if it was free. i have been using avast for 4 years now and it has been the best anti-virus ever. the truth is that if you do get a virus, none of the anti-virus programs are going to remove it. nortan, mcafee, avg and so on, i have tested so many. every virus has its own remover, you just have to find it. your best solution to virus issues is Google.com and nothing else. i use avast to remove the outer layers of virus's but it will never detect the mother of the virus, thats when you use it as a tool to tell you what virus you have but google.com and the community will provide a tool for you to remove it completely.
