I need to know what the best antivirus program there is out there.

Also, i was using a beta version of norton antivrius 2004 and it messed up on me and i tried to uninstall it but when i go to the "ad-remove programs" window and click remove for norton it says that there is another norton installer running and I must close that before proceding. I have "ctrl+alt+del" and exitied every program that i can without windows shutting down but it still gives me this message. Has anyone eles had problem with 2004. Symantec(sp?) says it has never seen this before but i search on google and other people have had this problem. I really want to unintstall it, any ideas?

I've never used Norton programs, but remember reading a post somewhere a while ago regarding the various problems uninstalling Norton AV. It seem to me there is a unique method to uninstall. Try searching on Google and some of the other forums, and here as well as Computing.net XP forum. Maybe type "Uninstall Norton AV" some- thing like that.

As far as AV programs go, I use eTrust Anti-Virus. Very effective. It's a pretty small program, and no where near as intrusive as the bloated Norton or McAfee. They update regularly--- sometimes 3 times a day, sending out notification email for every update.

Well i did some searching on google and things and i think Norton have to release a uninstall program to uninstall it(kind of stupid if you ask me) and i searched norton's site and all i coould find was a uninstall for 2003 and a faq sheet saying that the uninstaller for 2003 will not work for 2004.
