Subject: AntiVir Guard problem Win95
OS: Win XP, ME and 95
CPU/Ram: Pent 4 or less
Comment:

I managed (to my surprise) to connect my very old Win 95 computer to my home network. I installed AntiVir on it because it's free and I thought it had good reviews. However it installs ok but after restarting the computer the AntiVir Guard (I assume it provides the "real time protection") won't start. I get an error message "The AVGCTRL.exe file is linked to missing export MFC42.DLL:6880". If I reinstall AntiVir it runs ok - ok until I switch the computer off. Has anyone got an idea what is happening???
Thanks.

You will need to update the file MFC42.DLL on your old 95 system with a more recent version available on free-av.com in the download section.Just replace the one in your windows system (might be in system32) folder , use the find applet in the start menu and type in mfc42.dll
