anti virus software will not load

Specs: Windows XP
Just purchased Norton internet security 2011
CD drive recognises the disk but will not run in any of the Run programme options
Loaded the Norton performance disc, followed the run process and successfully loaded the programme, once load was complete a trogons virus appeared alerting of seriuse viruses and promting to register for some anti virus programme on line
Since this virus appeared computer slow, constant virus alerts from the trogon which appears as a red shield with a wight cross with virus threats and sounds, still unable to load Norton internet security pregame
Could it be possible the trogon is blocking the Norton disc from running, or could the disc be faulty/corrupt
Any advice at this stage will be appreciated

The program that said there are trojans in your PC is a virus(scareware).Download malwarebytes antimalware and change the malwarebytes file to something random like oseyer8yre and restart in safe mode and install it and after that goto the place were you installed it and change name of the file mbam.exe to something random like soiyhtviosytov and run it and run a quick scan. After that quarantine or delete the viruses found a and then run a full scan and delete the viruses found then install norton. But I prefer installing some other antiviruses like mcafee, kaspersky or free antivirus avast because norton is crap.
