Subject: Anti virus not auto detect viruses!OS: WIN XP PROCPU/Ram: P4 2GHZ 1024RAM |
Comment: Hey Im running McAfee Anti Virus Pro Edition v7.00 and for some reason its not automatically detecting viruses etc. I know its suppose to and yes the online system scanner is on. eg, i go to keygen.us and that darn site puts a file called TINYBAR into my windows directory, i dont know its there, until it tries to access the internet, then my firewall intercepts it, and lets me know. I then go to directory do a scn then whallah, anti virus detects it. i thought the virus scanner is contnously scanning and should pick things up like this automatically? it does catch some viruses this way but doesnt always seem to do it. Also how can the TINYBAR file be written to my windows directory in the first place, isnt this sort of thing suppose to be prevented? if this can get through, how many others r getting through?

Reply: (edit)TINYBAR is listed in Spybot's directory. I suggest you get and use Spybot/Adaware to feret out and prevent spyware from getting on your system. Two other programs worth getting are Spywareblaster and Spyguard, all are available at http://wilders.org/
