Like a fool, I clicked "allow once" when McAfee warned me that this could be something that I don't want access to or accessing my computer.

It originated from a pop up box that wanted me to click to see if my Active X controls we're updated - it even had the Windows "shield" or what appeared to be the shield.

I went to Add or Remove programs and unistalled it, but it still reinstalls on reboot enough to show up on the bottom bar blinking with an alternating white X on a red background and a white question mark on a blue background, and the balloon pops up saying System Alert yadda, yadda, that if clicked, takes you to their website of doom.

Can you guide this greenhorn to destroy the remnants/reinstaller(?)of/and anti spy check?

Install and run Superantispyware and Malwarebytes, both free.

RandyL, The Superantispyware seems to have done the job, and double fast too!

Thank you both for your assistance.
