I know this is a little cliched and has been asked and answered many times here, But...
What is the most secure free firewall out there right now?
The normal reply would have been Sygate or ZA for the last few years, but since Sygate have been bought out (gits) and the last version had a bug that disagreed with 9x systems, I am wondering if peoples stance on this has changed?
Personally I think ZA is easy to use but doesn't allow 'much' configuration, plus it does not protect against common attacks such as DoS and AFAIK it's not paticularly hard to break anyway.
I'd prefer to get anwsers from those that have experience with a range of firewalls, rather than the normal "I think blahblah is great because I use it..." (not to be rude)
Is there a recent, independent comparison, where a range of free firewalls have been tested 'properly'?
Sorry to repeat an age old question.

I have used this OutPost Firewall in the past. Now use ZA Pro
I always test the firewalls at SheildsUp
" It'll Get Ya When You Aint Lookin "Please Post back to let us know if we helped

The test results from this site should give you all the information you are looking for;
http://www.firewallleaktester.com/tests.htm

I too have run that test many times, but once someone has your IP address then whether your stelthed or not a dos attack is quite possible... grc have been hit themselves a few times: DRDoS
I should be a bit more specific:
What's the strongest software firewall right now?
Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Cheers capt, you replied while I was typing :p
I just found this little gem too:

Make of it what you will, I have no opinion either way and cannot verify/justify anything on this site.
