Hi,

I have this really annoying virus that causes my speakers to play random silly sounds. This includes sounds of laughter, screaming, burping etc. This is obviously a virus/spyware/trojan or program of some sort.... please help me if you know how. Maybe a program to help identify what kind of virus/spyware/trojan would be nice. I've tried my up to date Norton anti-virus software but it picks up nothing. This is really annoying especially when trying to do work. So if anyone know how please email me at helmon1@aol.com or post a message here or PM (prefer an email since there's no option to subscribe to topic) thank you.

Regards

Some of the tings that you can try.

An on line scan at trendmicro.com(it's called House Call).
Panda also has an online scan that I hear is really good!

Download and install Spybot search and destroy from Lurkhere.com in the nice files section.
That's a good,free anti-spyware program.

Trojans can be dealt with by downloading a trial of Trojan Hunter or TDS-3 if you are an advanced user.Check out wilder's.org for links to just about any security program or service.

Hope that helps,
JB.

Actually, these programs may not find it, but worth the effort anyway.

What you have is some sort of Joke Program that someone put on your system. Normally these are not considered to be a Virus, SpyWare/Ad-ware or a Trojan and these scanners will not find it. A HIJACK THIS dump should help you identify the program.

Just do a google.com search for Joke Program to get an idea of how many there are. Some sites sell whole CD's full of them. Maybe you can find the one you have.

Normally they place an entry in the MSCONFIG Startup list, that will give you a clue to where it is.
