Last night while doing a search I ended up on a blog, my cpu instantly froze. Then it restarted by itself I did see some under attack screen and some Antivirus software screen. So this morning I try to run avg and hijackthis any my computer froze. I restarted in safe mode and no icons or anything pop up. I ctrl alt delete and task man. Says not responding. I restarted in safe md 5 times same thing. I restartes in normal it says admin. Has disabled task manager. I try to avg and hijackthis in my computer freezes. I've been typing this post for 15min on my cell phone. So it may take some x 4 me 2 respond since cell phine internet is slow and I'm headed 2 work. I use xp sp3. 1gb ram. 500gb hard drive, hp slimline. I've had a computer since 98 and never not been able to safe mode, so I'm super worried. Thanks for your help.

Have you got an xp install disc ? I dosent really matter what xp but if you boot from an install disc and choose "Repair XP Installation" when it gives you options it may fix your safe mode and admin issues... Another way may be to use Reatogo to install xp on a disc so you can boot from a disc drive and scan your computers hard drive without booting from it (Reatogo XP will recognise the hard drive in your computer as an external - the virus program wont execute) Google is great, if you need tutorials for XP repair or reatogo I know there are a few out there ! thx 4 your response typing on phone so sorry 4 grammar and abc. the only disk i have is the very first xp which i got at school back around 2001 but im using xp sp3 so will that work and most importantly will i lose all my data if i do a repair? i cant afford to lose my material on drive. then this computer is slim line so i dont even know if i can slave this hard drive. thanks

Try hitting f11 several times when booting, this should bring up the restore to a previous date when you know it was working.

have a look at http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/How-... XP Repair feature wont alter or delete data, it just repairs the operating system. I suppose in your case it may send you back to sp1 or 2 (though im not entirely sure). I rekon its probably your best bet though I would try whunter31's f11 suggestion first nd see if you have any luck with it.

thx 4 your help f11 wont do anything i put in this xp cd sp1 from 2001 while as was at ga state after i press recover it ask 4 administration password........ what is this? i typed in my log on password but is says incorrect pass.......

did you try no password (just hit enter)?
