Comment:

For the past two days my mouse has been moving and clicking on its own. I haven't been moving it, yet the pointer moves and programmes close.

The first time the Windows Task Manager popped up, but I turned the computer off by the mains (as it would not turn off at the button!)

The second time the taskbar at the bottom became unlocked.

The third time an window about the Internet Info popped up.

I am really worried. I can see the mouse moving but I am not doing it. Am I being hacked?

I have Norton Internet Securioty 2005 by the way.
Thanks!

You write that you have Norton IS 2005. It hasn't issued any warning or advisory?

You haven't mentioned what other preventive measures you use. Have you installed a firewall? If you're on cable or DSL, you should use a router in addition to a software firewall.

also try another mouse, if sensors are weak, could have conflict, check keyboard settings, accessabilty settings if any...

try adaware scan, and virus scan as well...,

The first thing I would do is physically disconnect the PC from the Internet and see if the odd behavior continues. It *sounds* like someone with remote administrator privileges is scanning your machine. If it continues you've got some other issue.

I've had this happen when I forgot I had a 2nd mouse installed to my machine and the cat was batting it around under the desk.

NIS 2005 hasn't issued any warnings but I do get the occasional LOP Adware, where i just find the file on search and delete it.

I have a feeling it might just be the mouse though because that is the only weird thing that has been happening.

You really should look for other symptoms as well, as the sign of an infection. Run some security scans. Try another mouse, as your prob could be just a hardware conflict, bad driver, IRQ bad, etc.
