allowing server through mcafee firewall

January 2, 2012 at 01:07:56
Specs: Windows 7
Mcafee firewall is blocking a server that I know is safe, it can be accessed when the firewall is off, but with the firewall on it cannot.

Is there a way to allow it through?

I don't want to get another firewall.

I know this doesn't really solve your problem, but when it comes to antivirus programs.. McAfee just doesn't hold up anymore.

I would uninstall that and install AVG For Free 2012, I install it on all my clients machines and have had minimal problems.

If you want a specific firewall, go to and check out ZoneAlarm, it's a free firewall that I very highly recommend that gives you full access and control.

I agree with dumping McAfee...BUT...I would recommend Avast Free. Check out these reasons that make Avast the BEST free AV online:
It is the most efficient 'no muss, no fuss' AV that does NOT need regular scheduled scans PLUS it updates automatically sometimes several times a day.
I have installed it on 95% of my PC repairs I've done for clients in the past 10 years.

You may have to use MCPR.exe from the McAfee website to TOTALLY uninstall McAfee, as no other AV will run properly if there are any traces of it in the registry.

I would not recommend AVG...just check out the posts on what problems it has.

You can find AVAST free here:

The windows firewall should be more than efficient for has really gotten much better in the past few years. The choice is yours....I have not installed a 3rd party firewall in many years....most are just a pain at the best of times.

Some HELP in posting on plus free progs and instructions 7 Medals
