My wife shut her laptop off today, and took it to work. When she restarted it, after the login screen, a window pops up saying that the wininet.dll file is missing. We searched about this problem, and only came up with people still being able to get into Windows, or to a command line. Both of which we cannot. So I pulled the drive from the notebook, and put it into an external drive, plugged it into my desktop, and if I check the properties, it says that there is only 1.something gigs left (60 gig drive). But when I navigate through the drive, I find that the windows folder is empty along with many others. The only ones that still have anything are the music folders. I know that the wininet.dll was not intentionally deleted by my wife, and AVG didn't recognize it as a virus as in other threads that I've read. I'm wondering if the drive just went out? It's funny that it shows the drive as being full but when I check each folder, the max size is about 8 gigs to the drive? I'm also wondering if she got hacked, and there are some encrypted files on it?

Old stuff that still works, somewhat....
