I have been reading on your site about other ppl having this problem so I went to dougknox and did the exe file fix thing but it only fixed some of my problems. Such as I can access internet explorer from my desktop but all othe icons still look like that one when windows doesn't know what it is. I still can't system restore, but I can open my add/remove programs now, although the remove option does not pop up for me. I have AVG free and am running a virus scan as I type and nothing has poped up yet. Could this be a virus that can't be detected? Can I still fix this myself?? Please help me!!!!

ok, i think i fixed it, i did the exe fix then the thumbnail fix from www.dougknox.com. this made me able to use the system restore thumbnail in the start menu. I did the system restore for 4 days ago, and it seems to be working fine now. Is the any sort of follow up I should do to make sure that this problem has actually resolved? I did a virus scan and nothing came up, I only have AVG though. Anyways please let me know...
