I got a random message from a person I used to talk to and it showed a link saying 'Hey check this out'. So being the smart guy I am I clicked it and it came up with a program that downloaded itself to my computer and started sending the same program to other people on my buddylist. AIM seems to work ok, but I can't Alt+Ctrl+delete to see my taskbar. Possibly running in the background? Help!

Try booting in safe mode and do a system restore, run a virus scan, or whatever you feel would work. To boot in safe mode, press F8 when the screen before windows comes up.

Here are a couple of links to read about this from Symantec.con security. Maybe one of them can help.

I have a removal tool that removes all known AIM viruses, including this one, and repairs task manager.

See http://jayloden.com/VirusClean.htm

If you're concerned about trusting me or my website, all you have to do is search Google (or even the computing.net forums) for Jay Loden and/or AIM virus and you'll see loads of links to me and recommendations from various people or organizations.

Hope this helps,

-Jay
