Well, do you know what program caused that pop-up??
If u don't, then do this:
1. Uninstall the program.
2. Delete all AIM registry entries that u can find.
3. Scan the PC with an Anti-Virus.
4. Scan the PC with Ad-Aware (or something liek that)
5. Do whatever else u think u can do.
I hope that helps :)

Yeah I have the virus too...I'd be able to get rid of it, but it immidiately closes the Program Manager and Regedit windows. An "aimprofile.scr" program was downloaded, but I can't find the program on my computer when I run a search.

I have the same problem. My anti-virus software quarantined the virus, and i've deleted it from the quarantine, but it is still doing its thing. Some suggestions have been to edit the registry and delete the files, except when I attempt to do this, the window immediately closes itself before I have a chance to fix it. In safe mode, there are no suspicious looking files anywhere, and my anti-virus software no longer detects the trojan...yet I am still having the problems with my AIM. Any other suggestions?

uninstalling AIM does nothing because the virus isn't linked to the AIM files.

this is what you have to do:

1. click start->Search
2. Search for "Winampa.exe"
3. if "Winampa.exe" appears delete it
4. Search for "xlroue.exe"
5. if "xlroue.exe" appears delete it
5. close and restart AIM

the virus shouldn't be on your system any more :-)

6. and most importantly dont click on any links in profiles or away messages unless the person whos Screen Name it is told you what the link is.

I had it yesterday. Norton does not find it. Go to http://www.pandasoftware.com/products/home_users.asp and run the Active scan. Also follow response 6 above. Search all of the registry for winampa.exe and delete all instances.

I had the ugleague thing to. It annoyed the hell out of me till i tried something on my own. I started my comp in safe mode (press F8 on startup) then when it asked if i wanted to continue in safe mode or change it to earlier days i did. I chose a day where i know it hadnt been on. I picked like Feb 25, and to my luck when i restared the comp and logged on it was gone. I am now free of that annoying pop up :). Lemme know if it worked for any of you.

I tryed 6 and 7. When I try to delete winampa it says access denied. And after doing 7 It doesnt do the profile thing anymore but if Im not signed on to AIM it pops up boxes and the sign on box and says

The AIM hyperlink you've clicked on may require you to be online to work. Please log in first.

How do you get it to stop doing that?

The best way to avoid your computer from getting virusus like this is to not download anything suspicious or opertate behind a firewall. Another thing to do is follow this step and see what programs on your computer are starting up automaticly, you can make sure that they don't with this and even if you need to, get rid of certain programs that are virus's.

On the General tab, click Selective Startup , and then clear all of the subsequent check boxes.

You will see some suspicious stuff, but if you are really having problems do a clean boot-up by doing this,

There is a box called 'Use Original BOOT.INI'
that is your original, clean windows install boot-up. That will emiliminte many of your virus programs, than go through and find the programs on the auto-start-up that are virus's and delete them.

There are many programs that will do it for you, but this is the most reliable if you know what you are doing on a computer.
