I am having a problem similar to one I was just reading that you were able to help with. I got an aim instant message saying something like 'is it ok if i post this pic of us on myspace?' and was dumb enough to click it...the link actually pulls up a download window and it looks like you're downloading a picture. I downloaded hijackthis and saved a logfile but I don't know what to look for...can you help?

Hi there,

The symptoms you mention point almost certainly to a worm known under the name of "Licat".

This regularly infects people's IM programs and then sends .pif files (which appear as image downloads) to each person on their friendlist. Search for "Worm Licat" on google for more information if needed.

The majority of security and spyware programs should be able to remove this threat, such as Prevx1, Superantispyware, Spyware Doctor, AVG, etc, etc.

Please also ensure to inform your friend that they are infected, as they may continue to unwittingly send out these messages and infect yet more people.

I had previously tried using AIMfix but must have had an older version. Thanks so much for your help- much appreciated.
