Hey there... well im pretty sure i have a virus, but nothing is pickin it up... I have done a scan with my norton, an online scan with norton, nothing. Here the details:
I opened a file sent to me by a friend, which was 'corrupt', and i looked down only to see my norton Auto protect disabled... I am now unable to re-activate it. I cannot run a live update with the program either. I can, however, run a scan of my hard drive, which finds nothing, even with the updated definitions i downloaded manually from symantec. I then scanned the file that I opened the first time, and there was a virus found. No name was given to it, just that it was a Trojan virus.
My comp has slowed down quite a bit, and When i look at my list of runnign applications, net.exe (and net (1).exe) opens multiple times, and then closes very quickly.
Tried to look up online for answers and not gettin much. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Frustratedly yours,
Kevin

chances are that the trojan he sent u has antivirus diabling software on it. I can help you though i have been infected with one of these before that killed over 400 antivirus and firewalls. Your first option is to ask your friend if it was. the second and probably best is to download tds-3 this is byfar the best anti-trojan software on the internet you can get it here http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/

You can download the 30day trial of TDS-3 and it does work well only problem is this. You must take these steps to install the latest radius file.

Click Me To Find Out How

Once you install the latest radius file then you can scan the HDD for a trojan.

Hey, TheKid...

Why don't you fix your links so they open in a new window instead of taking the person away from Computing.Net when they click on a posted link. I do it, why can't you???

My link will open a new page, your link will take you to the page in your link. Get some skills bro.

G'day,

One other useful method, if you were there when it happened, is to go to windows explorer and list all files that were created or modified on that date.
This will give you some idea what was installed or corrupted.
Rename the xtn of the installed progs (*.old)
and delete and re-install the corrupted system files.
You will probably still need to run a good trojan/ spyware programme to clean up, but at least you can get your system running.
regards,
Elric
