Subject: AGP detects unknown virusOS: Windows MECPU/Ram: 1200/512Model/Manufacturer: Homebuilt |
Comment: Suddenly AGP has started detecting threats in the C:\_Restore\Temp directory. Although AGP indicates that it has cleaned the files they remain infected only minutes after the initial scan. The names AGP assignes to these are: Trojan horse Proxy.RJD (two of these) and Trojan horse downloader.Small.AGP. Do you think these are real threats? Is there anyway to delete the three files in this directory? Or, should I just leave them alone. It appears that these three files are being rebuilt each day as they have today's date. Thanks

Reply: (edit)Hi oldslowpoke: Dou you mean AVG antivirus? Disable and re-enable System Restore. Be warned that all restore points will be lost. Run your scan again. The trojans are probably getting re-installed from there. I would also run seperate trojan scans too. In answer to one of your questions, Yes trojans are a real threat. RandyL

Reply: (edit)Thanks Randy and yes, I did mean AVG antivirus. I will use your suggestion immediately. I am curious, are these two Trojans new or does AVG antivirus name them differently than Norton or McAfee?

Reply: (edit)Randy, as the old idiom goes, you hit the nail on the head! Your suggestion worked and I am now Trojan Horse free. System Restore has been re-enabled and subsequent AVG antivirus scans find nothing. Thanks a million.
