Hey guys, simple problem I hope. It seems I have a virus on my laptop but I'm not able to identify it with Hijackthis or anything, and I haven't been able to find it described anywhere on the net. Basically I only see evidence of it when I've been on the internet for a while, because I'll get a popup box that has nothing on it but a button saying "close". While the box is up everything else is locked up. Ctr-Alt-Del doesn't do anything, you can't move the window around, nothing. And of course when I push close all browsers shut down and then everything's back as normal. So does this ring a bell with anyone? Or can you give me any idea of what to look for with Hijack? Thanks a lot in advance for any help.

There is the possibility that you do not have a virus but a
exploited Windows Vulnerability. What version of antivirus
are you using?

Probably the next thing I would try is run windows update
until microsoft states there are not any other critical
updates. Windows update may take 3 to 4 times until it
consistently states no more updates.

Thanks for the reply. I have Ad-Aware SE Plus as well as Spybot-S&D for my antivirus software right now. I've ran them before though and neither has come up with anything.
I'll try the updates thing as well and let you know if that works.
Thanks again.

Spybot is not anti-virus software, it is anti-spyware. Please download and install Kaspersky or NOD32 and scan in Safe Mode.
