advice on deleting files

Hi, i have windows xp and avg free edition, a month ago it picked up 3 Trojan horse downloader.Small.38.W virus and put them in the virus vault, i have left them there for a month and i wondered if anybody could tell me if it is safe to delete the files now. the file paths and names as are follows:
file name:1.exe
file path:C:\

file name:req.dll
file path:C:\WINDOWS\system32\

file name:A0051942.dll
file path:System Volume Information\_restore{D16535CF-4F36-4D5C-A19A-6982D62D6C9E}\RP20 5\

I would appreciate any advice as i am a quite new to all this

Many people turn off system restore, as virus hide in there and some virus programs have problems finding them.
