The advanced section is hidden away to stop pointless questions being asked - didn't they tell you where it is? - maybe they are trying to tell you something.............

No offence meant.. ;-)

Maybe you should go to work for Microsoft???
Of course; no offense meant neither....but maybe your expertise would be challenged there, and you could really demonstrate all your skills.

Good day..

I figured I'd throw my two cents in, it's not about Level 1 or above questions, it's about questions period. Sure, we all get our questions answered here, and, with our new knowledge, we "dig deeper".

By answering these. to you. simple questions, you're helping other people go past level 1. That's the whole purpose of this place, to move forward in our skills.

Now, there are some who simply have a problem they want fixed, and could care less about how a computer ticks. This is fine, they deserve help too. Point is, if you want to answer Level 2 questions and above, ignore the level 1 ones.

I would like to work for microsoft I suppose and give them ideas that actually work lol but im only 15 and I dont think they would allow that....and yes dw helping others but when you have to repeat yourself 3 or 4 times it starts to become annoying.I see 3-4 questions everyday on spyware and the questions are right in order with all of them answered.Couldnt they take time and read other responses? lol When you dont know how to go to www.google.com or what not and type in keywords about your problem thats pretty sad.If people are to use a computer then they should know atleast about what they are using.if they havent got any security and their systems get broken into it isnt the applications or softwares fault. If someone has a virus and is giving off the symptoms of a virus and their anti virus doesnt pick anything up so they dont bother thats also pretty sad. The weakest link in computer system is human themselves. When they use a computer all day long and dont know hardly anything about them but chat, email and surfing and couldnt even tell you a few types of firewall techniques. If they dont protect their system then they deserve what they get.Its sad how programmers and people who design programs have to make them so understandable that even people who havent been on a computer can click a button and it will work automatically without any extra information needed.

A computer is an appliance for most folks. They no more care about its inner workings than they do about the technology inside their TVs or telephones.

You can't ignore the human element.

As for the rest... well, welcome to Computing.net - your complaints are hardly new ones. Participation is voluntary, and I'd say dw's response is spot on.

Hey White Hat
Your, "Is there an Advanced section here?" ranks just below when someone asked "Is there a female version of XP" for stupidity.
Your crass impudence in thinking your a whole lot smarter than anyone else testifies to your age.
As my american friends on here would say;
"Have a nice day"
Or as my old Dad used to say "When I was in Baghdad you where in your Dad's bag"

White Hat if you really want to get to level 2 you firstly need to learn proper sentence structure and paragraphing..

No offense intended :)

You folks missed the most important fact of this post. The person posting is only 15yrs old. 15yr old kids ask crazy questions because they are 15yrs old. No disrespect to anyone that is 15 but you are 15 and have a lot to learn about the world and people.

Whitehat has not learned that when it comes to computers a lot of people are ignorant and will remain ignorant and a lot of folks have never even heard of Google. Go to any help forum and you will see the same thing asked over and over. Today people want others to do the work for them they do not want to take the time to fix their own problem. This is why they post the same question over and over and over. I just ignore them and move on. That is what us advanced users do because we are smart enough to understand how people work.

I'm not sure if people are lazy or if they are "uneducated" or a bit of both."Common Sense" look online for a solution to your problem or pay someone to fix it thats why there are IT who fix things lol but again i suppose since they want to save money they would look for an easy way out but if they dont know how to use a search engine and type something like "my cd rom wont work" or something of the like it is just sad. When people arent even smart enough to put 3 or 4 words together to search lol Everyone has to know what a virus is and everyone has to protect against hackers otherwise there isnt even that "casual" use you guys talk about there will be no use.lol Not alot of people know exactly what a virus is and how they get infected and its becuase they are lazy so they arent "well educated" People like that keep viruses alive by having them run of their machine all the time.Cusual users or get like what 15% of what a computer can do overall?? and their security level IQ is now much greater then 15 lol so they should study up atleast once in a while , they should have a classes before you are allowed to have Internet Access...lol

Roger that.

If you are only going to bitch about folks popping on here (or any help site) and posting their problem/question, without spending time to read thru 20 - 50 other posts to see what else relates to their situation.....Well you'll just wear yourself out.
That is a % of the sum of human nature and will never change.

Thank goodness this board forces them to give Windows version and RAM, etc just to post. That saves the first 2 responses being wasted on that.

Read thru and help where you feel able & willing and don't fret about the rest.

Hey this site has a great search utility (most do not) but most new visiters with a problem are not going to mess with figuring that out either, just ask their question in desperation.
Hey at (15?) Glad you are taking the $12/hr questions instead of the $10/hr questions.
But can you explain it so the average joe posting in desperation can handle your answer?, Haa

Keep up the good effort
By the way, after sp2 my mouse keeps drifting across my screen and I ............

It seems that the skills necessary to use Google and search for a solution to a problem may be those same skills you might employ to find questions to which you are more suited to answer.

Superduke, are you still here?

btw too often people use the word "to, too, and two" incorrectly
or they simply are lazy which too is a shame
these two things bother me and others too
maybe if people went to school, they would know how to use words and write well
or maybe we could all just start using 2 for all 3 words

what is painfully obvious to one person might be just painful to the other
