Address - what is it?

I have the text word "Address" sitting innocuously on my taskbar, up against the left-hand end of my toolbar. i.e Address |toolbar -->
Why is it there? It seems to do nothing - it is dormant ... or is it? It has no links or menus attached.
Normal virus scanning doesn't name it or remove it. \\Any clues?
