Comment: I have noticed that Adaware SE and Spybot while updating instal only the LATEST file and NOT the previous files While SPYWARE BLASTER provides ALL the updates. 2. Is it true and is there any of getting TOTAL UPDATES?? -

Reply: (edit)xetcetc, Ad-Aware, gives/installs the latest def file. Which is the last, with new added things, to it. Spybot S&D, does the same, with other things/updates also available. {help, skins, languages, ect. ect.} To prove this, you could uninstall, and reinstall, then update. Spybot S&D, you would get all the choices of updates, that you updated, to get where you are now. Now, use the same install, that you used before, to install. Hmm, I wonder, if I undersood what you said. Probably not, ;-) and you'll not understand what I'm saying either :-) Well, I tried :-)

Reply: (edit)Hmmmm! You have a good question there. If i get an update for the first time today, do I only get the latest one or do I get all the updates for the last two months (if I've been slack) that I missed out on. Last weeks was say 142kb and this weeks is only 68kb (I'm talking in theory now) have I missed out on 74 kb+ of updates???? Dog's Security Ideas D4

Reply: (edit);-) Dog, I'm not at the right computer now, or I'd give you the size, of all the def files {Ad-Aware}, includes, language, help, startup, advcheck, mainapp, ect. {spybot s&d} for awhile. They do get bigger, with some exceptions ;-) "...do I only get the latest one or do I get all the updates for the last two months..." You would get, for the last two months. Well, adaware was doing some goofy {maybe not the right word} things, in the last two months ;-) So, would be the whole program :-) CrazyOne

Reply: (edit)Crazy One There have been times where I have updated my anti virus on, say, Thursday on my desktop computer and the file size has been over 200k. Then say on Friday I update my notebook which hasn't been updated for over a week and it only gets a <100k file. I then update my desktop and it gets the same <100k file. Has my notebook missed out on the over 200k update altogether??? Dog's Security Ideas D4

Reply: (edit)Both AdAware SE and SpyBot updates are cummulative! If one user updates weekly and another updates monthly, the monthly user recieves the same updates and has missed nothing. _________________________ The internet is no longer a toy, it's a COMBAT ZONE!

Reply: (edit)AAAH yes, but what about anti virus programs? I'm talking about AVG in particular here. I know you should never leave it that long but I recall cleaning a friends computer up and updating the AVG and it was only 192k. They had not done it for several weeks. This surprised me because I had downloaded updates from the day before on my computer and it was over 500k.What was the other 300+k. When I got home and did my updates I also got the 192k file. It would appear as though my friend missed out on 300+k of updates which they would have got in the next major download but until then it would appear that they did not have 'everything'.
