Yes, it complicates the issue to program for non-NT based systems so I guess they'll all eventually drop W95, W98 & WinME. I'd be surprised if they continue updates for the previous Ad-Aware so stick until it busts.
SpyBot Search & Destroy is a very good freebie and does much the same as Ad-Aware. That is still OK for W98 etc.
All they really have done is redesign the interface so that the added features of the "paid for" version are more obvious to those using the free version.
The free version that I can see does not really provide any more "protection" than the SE free version did - very minimal.
Ad-Aware 2007 Free has one caveat: None of the new versions of Ad-Aware 2007 currently support Vista. Vista-compatible versions of Ad-Aware 2007 are slated for release in August 2007.
It's hard to be certain but most probably they will drop them sooner or later. If so they usually notify you when you are updating. Just keep going whilst they are available.
I personally don't like Adaware 2007. I think it is not as user friendly as SE. I uninstalled it and put back my SE. Not to mention the fact that it messes up my Vista Aero...puts it to Vista Basic. I know, I know it's not Vista compatable yet. So, I'll just keep using SE until I cannot any longer...then maybe it will be compatable. Besides the fact that SE is easier to use...just IMHO.
