Hello

I seem to have a virus on my Acer 5920, so everytime I start up the machine it will start and log me in, but while it's loading my settings, it will switch off and then re start all over again until I switch it off.

As I wasn't given a recovery disc and I didn't set up a restore point, how will I restore back to the factory settings without a disc?

Thanks

... found this:

... press F2 to enter setup,, on second tab of BIOS there should be an option to ENABLE or DISABLE the D2D feature....(disk to disk)

... just make sure it is enabled...

... make sure the HDD is the first boot device since the D2D is on the HDD.

... save the bios settings and exit...

... at the ACER BOOT SCREEN when you see the press F2 message,,, just keep press/releasing the ALT+F10 and it should boot into hidden partition (which will be XP command line) and follow the onscreen instructions to recover the HDD from the data on the hidden partition..

Is this your laptop?

if thats it then I think those models came with Vista. Did you downgrade to XP? If you did you may have nuked the MBR and can not access the RP.
