Subject: access blocked on IE OS: XPCPU/Ram: dontknowModel/Manufacturer: intel |
Comment: my sisters computer has some virus that wont let her access the internet, there is no spyware remover on there - nothing. so i cant figure out what this virus is or how to stop it. when she opens IE it says access blocked virus warning in big red letters and underneath it says you can not access this site due to the following reasons... your computer was infected by spy-ware or adaware software. it wants her to go to a site with a remover tool, then when you go to the site there is nothing there. we cant get to ANY web page. how do i get control over IE again so i can fix this? we cleared cookies, changes the home page back to about:blank and looked threw add remove for weird programs. any suggestion??? sorry its not much info! thanks -m

Reply: (edit)First rule...NEVER click on anything that pops up and says to download a tool. Try a free online scan http://www.spywareinfo.com/xscan.php and remove all it finds Then try online scans with housecall and kaspersky because they will allow you to clean the infections without trying to get you to buy their product. If she doesn't have an AV, download avast free and let it do a bootscan. Also make sure her critical up-dates are up-to-date. Post back your results Thanks Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
