Comment: I am running windows '98 and have recently downloaded IE6 (in an attempt to rectify all the problems) but can't open links in a new window (pop up). Sometimes the window is just blank, other times I get an "about blank" message ontop of the pop up box. I tried to rectify this by running the "repair" function, but to no avail! It even has affected the address book in hotmail. ALSO I get a message which says "IE has had a failure and you need to shut it down" but then the whole computer freezes and I can't get rid of the message or shut the computer down properly. HELP!

Download a program from the web called Big Fix at www.bigfix.com It should be able to fix everything and also fix any potential problems that you may have. Its a good one and its free. "ALSO I get a message which says "IE has had a failure and you need to shut it down" but then the whole computer freezes and I can't get rid of the message or shut the computer down properly." hit the Control Alt Delete keys on your puter once to delete and 2x to reboot.

Reply: (edit)I get the 'about blank' pop up sometimes - I assumed it was an advert as it appears when other pop up adverts show. There is a prog to stop these intrusions but I know little about it.. POP UP KILLER.
