A virus messed up all my file exstensions

Specs: Windows XP
Well i know i recently got a virus and so i went to run a system restore and i get this message "This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel" Pretty much no programs work properly and ive read up on your fixes which require downloading and zipping files and i cant do that. It wont let me do anything. i cant even open cmd prompt..........i need help

ooooh i didnt see the hold control part well so far so good but your link to that site isnt working anymore. i've tried it ealier and it worked but now its not? any ideas?

ok i just got it off another computer and it imported it sucessfully, but it didnt fix anything. Do i need to restart my PC to make it work?

nvm it is allowing me to do a system restore now and that will fix it =) thanks for your help man very very very much

*nvm i thought it was working f--- =/ it actually opens system restore now but the next button doesnt work O_o*
