Comment: Hi, I found this free security monitor and it has some great features: http://premiumservices.aol.com/asm_... and NO, I'm not an AOL member...LOL, but this thing is real usefull and will let you know when your spyware progs and other things are not functioning correctly. Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Reply: (edit)Why do I get this creepy feeling when I see 'A new service courtesy of AOL'? Something to do with 'is there anything else installing behind' or 'will it uninstall, if necessary'. Agree it looks nice though. "I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..."

Reply: (edit)Pity it doesn't recognise Kaspersky, just says my AV isn't active (which it is), also says I have multiple AVs running (which I haven't). apart from that gave 100% on all other categories. A guarded thumbs-up but I think I'll uninstall it. "I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the most of us..."

Reply: (edit)Also, probably alot of the users that posted opinions were AOL users...AOL has the most infested software you can find....it's riddled with ads and other stuff. On a PC without AOL installed, I'm sure it will work well IMHO Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Reply: (edit)For me it was a fair enough program considering it came from AOL. I would have given it much better rating but for things below. BTW, it didn't have a problem picking up KAV on this system and my PC score summary was 100. 0. I couldn't maximise or enlarge the program window at all, so the summary details & alerts were terribly illegible and painful to read, even after bringing my desktop settings all the way down to 800 x 600 (the lowest on my monitor). 1. It found a problem with my browser and recommended I upgrade to IE6 SP1, even though I have IE7 RC1 installed. 2. It also recommended I install AOL backup even though I also have DI7 installed. 3. Faster scanning time. I have since uninstalled it, if they can fix those things, most especially the program window sizing, I wouldn't mind bringing it back as a regular on this machine ;-( The Secret Letter From Iraq

Reply: (edit)Good points Sabertooth. I guess there are flaws in just about any program. The monitor did notice today that the spyware progs had updates, that kind of amazed me, but it has my score at 93 because I don't have ammy my critical up-dates. I've refused to D/L 2 of the cumulatve patches as they cause problems in my IE. Other than that, my PC is running fine. I noticed jayboy is up to his usual self trying his best to annoy anyone he can on computing.net. Some things never change. Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks
