Comment: I currently have Norton Internet security. Approximly three times a day or more my firewall pops up saying" A REMOTE WIN32 SYSTEM IS ATTTEMPTING TO ACCESS YOUR COMPUTER" then it gives me the options 1)Permit 2)Block 3)Custimize. I choose block since i dont knwo what it is. My question is: is someone trying to hack me or put a virus on my comp? I mean wtf is going on. Are they using telnet or something?

Reply: (edit)Sure. Its not uncommon for a firewall to get 100 hits a day (on some IP address sub nets). There are a number of virus and Trojans out there on infected machines trying to spread to other machines. That is why you have a firewall to block them. As this type of hit is common and normal, why don't you do the normal thing and turn the warn option off so Norton does not bother you every time it happens. If interested, you can check the logs when you have time and see what has happened. But you are just "bothering" yourself by having the warnings pop up. You should only be concerned about something in your computer trying to get out.
