2 iexplore.exe processes are running

Specs: Windows XP
as soon as i boot up my laptop, two iexplore.exe processes are running.
ending the process just re-opens them.

i believe this to be some kind of virus, but all the info i foound online was just a bunch of discussions. nobody gave a CLEAR DEFINITIVE WAY of removing the problem.

apparently, no antivirus/antimalware/antispyware software will find it (mine didnt either)
somebody, somewhere suggested a program from http://www.prevx.com/

i would love to know a PROPER solution,
and if the solution is the prevx thing, then isnt it weird that it is the ONLY program to remove it?
sounds like forcing people to use your software by creating a virus?

It is normal to have iexplore running, and two isn't weird at all. Internet Explorer 8 splits the core and all of the shell/addons into two different processes, so if an addon or ActiveX conflict arises, it won't crash the entirety of IE. Some programs will use IE's processes to update, too. Please right click on the taskbar at the bottom of your screen, and select "Start Task Manager." If not already checked, please check "Show processes from all users." Now, take a screenshot (please ask if you don't know how), and paste a photobucket link to it in your next reply.
