Hello everyone,

I've created a text file with a simple programm code in HEX.

Now I would like to make a *.com or *.exe file from it but I don't know what tool shall I use to make the conversion.

Could you give me any help?

Thanks!

Zennon

If the text file really has the code in hex, just copy it:

copy /b my.txt my.com

or

copy /b my.txt my.exe

[hopefully you know which]

If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.

Thanks a lot, Mechanix!

Btw: is there any software that supports such conversion?

M2,

I suspect that when Zennon said "text file in hex" he really did mean a *text* file containing hex representations, not a binary file.

As you didn't specify exactly the exact format and nature of this text file, we can't help you with a utility to convert it into a binary file. How did you create this file? If you've looked at an Intel x86 processor instruction manual and wrote a machine-code program in hex, you'll find you can't just convert the hex into binary to create an .exe file. The latter contain much more information than just the machine code.

If the text file is a hex dump of an existing .exe file, it's probably been UU-encoded or Base64 encoded for transmission by email or newsgroup. In that case, you'll need uudecode or similar decoder.
