Windows XP failed application

Dell Latitude d600

Specs: Windows XP
When I start my laptop up it loads to the point where you would type in your login password but a message comes up with the heading "bcmwltry.exe-unable to locate component" and it says "This application has failed to start because iphlpapi.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem" this laptop is an older dell lattitude D600 and I do not have the recovery disks or XP disc, hopefully there is something that can fix this. Thanks

Put bcmwltry.exe and iphlpapi.dll into a Google searches, lots of info there. They seem to be tied into the Broadcom Corporation Wireless Network software.

Unticking bcmwltry.exe in MsConfig>Startup might solve your problem. If you are using Broadcom you may have to re-install the software.

Good luck

Can you boot into safe mode??

Tap F8 while the computer boots(right from when you hit the power button) and you should get to a menu, select safe mode. It may take a while to boot into safe mode and you should see quite a bit of text on screen as it boots.
