Subject: windows scripting?
Comment:

Hi folks,

win2k, What language(VB,perl,wsh..etc) would be best to perform the following?

I want image a number of computers, and modify on startup ip's, net masks, machine names..etc.

I use simple bash scripting to modify linux networking stuff, for example:

/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0

Is there similar files in win2k that I could modify ipaddress, machine name..etc?

If anyone could point me in the right direction.

thanks

jerry

All this junk is kept in the registry.
You would have to get the docs some where
on which keys to modify, their types, and use a language which has hooks into the regsistry, while timing the operation so that you would not have to reboot afterwards(unless it was unavoidable). AFAIK windows doesn't do a
whole lot of rereading of registry values in
9x on the fly.
