I'm trying to collate information for my company about our domain names. So there I am with several 100 doing individual lookups. I use windows command prompt and was wondering what would i have to do to create a batch file that read the domain data from a txt file then perform the lookup and write a new txt file for each domain with the whois data?

I'd need the microsoft.com as the variable

whois microsoft.com >microsoft.com.txt

If anyone has any good ideas aswell it would be great

If the text file contains only domain names - one per line - then
this will probably do:

for /f "delims=" %a in (domains.txt) do whois %a> %a.txt
