Specs: Windows 7, amd dual core processor e350
Somebody that I know showed me about scripting and I thought it looked interesting and useful and I was wondering where is the best place for me to learn about scripting and which is the best program that I could use to write scripts.

I was an adventurer like you once until I took an arrow to the knee!

Well, my first step would be to pick a language.

He probably has no idea there are separate languages. Seeing you're on Windows I would give PowerShell a try. As for a program for writing scripts (called an IDE), if you have PowerShell 3.0 installed then you probably already have all you need. If not, you should run Windows Update to get the latest version of PowerShell that comes with PowerShell ISE.

yeh, you got batch-script, power-shell script, vbscript, javascript etc etc...
Also, Razor taught me that 32-bit stuff can not be dependably run on 64-bit system.
I will always keep that in mind henceforth (and THANKS, Razor!)
For vbscript and javascript, a) visit msdn site and b) download "script56.chm", which covers the basics. I guess msdn also covers batchscript and powershell.
