Specs: Windows XP
Our company's top selling software is developed in Visual FoxPro. It is 12 years old and we are considering a re-design. It is similar to PeachTree or Quickbooks financial software, runs 24/7, requires 13 months of data storage for on-demand reporting. Industry feedback suggests we use MS SQL. Can anyone suggest a programming language that works best with MS SQL or offer another suggestion?

Personally I would use either C# or C++. The .NET Framework makes it very easy to interface with MS SQL Server and Visual Studio provides useful tools to make this even easier.

I agree with C#; Microsoft's products tend to play well together, but any language that can use ODBC should be able to use MS-SQL without too much effort.
