Sorry for the stupid question...I have very little knowledge of building a web site....what should the dimensions of a web page be? For Instance..If I wanted just a simple logo in the middle,and a button that says enter. again...sorry

your webpage should be able to cater for smallest 800 * 600

their for the actual space within the browser is about 780 * 470 given allowance for scroll bar, headings etc

Designing for 800x600 is good.

But please make it readable at 640x480.

I didn't say make it 640x480. I said make it usable at 640x480. Scrollable. I've been on sites where you cannot scroll right to see the remaining part of the page. I've got guite a few old laptops and monitors that are 640x480.
