Comment:

I've been to a few web pages that have a fucus type function. Its for long webpages. For example a dictionary page. There would be 26 alphabetical link at the top of the page and you'd click one and it would drop down on the same page to the coorect letter.

How can I do that?

Thanks

Do you mean that when you click a letter link, it will go to the corresponding page?

Link at top of page
A HREF="#perlstart" Getting Started With Perl /a

Goes to this...
a name="perlstart" Getting Started with Perl /a

Response Number 3 is correct except that the angle brackets did not show up.

(Replace the open and close parenthesis with the corresponding angle bracket)

Links at top of page
(A HREF="#A") A (/a)
(A HREF="#B") B (/a)
and so on through the alphabet.

Place this at the beginning of the A section
(a name="A")A(/a)(br)

Place this at the beginning of the B section
(a name="B")B(/a)(br)
and so on through the alphabet.

You should also place this at the top of the page:
(a name="Top")(/a)

and this at the bottom of each alphabetic section:
(A HREF="#Top") Back to Top (/a)

so that your visitors will have a way to get back to the top of the page and the alphabet links with only one mouse click instead of having to scroll or page up.

You can make symbols like this:

>

<

Right-click on the page and click View Source to see how to make those. It's a & followed by gt for greater than or lt for less than, and then a semicolon.

-Burbble
