I am trying to find out how I can set my computer to automatically open on start up at a calendar page within a file which I purchased and then downloaded.

I do not want to have to go online each day in order for this page to open automatically.

Can this be done? Thanks for your assistance.

What as ths file your purchased and downloaded? Little bits of information like that would enable people to come to an informd conclusion istead of having to make wild guesses.

However, if the calandar is stored on-line you may not have much choie.

There is a way to edit the Windows registry to make programs/files run when you login.

Goto Start -> Run -> then type 'regedit'
On the left you will see a list of keys, similar to a tree of files. Expand the node called 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE'. Then expand 'SOFTWARE' -> 'Microsoft' -> 'Windows' -> 'CurrentVersion'. Find the key called 'Run', and click on it.

There should now be a list of registry entries on the right (Don't worry about the number of entries, it's different for every computer). Under the 'Edit' menu, goto 'New' -> 'String Value'. You will see a new entry in the list on the right. Call it whatever you want (preferably something like 'Calendar', in your case). Double click on it to bring up an 'Edit String' dialog.

You now need to find the full path name of the file you want to open at startup (the file to open to get the calendar). Find it in Explorer, then copy all the text in the address bar. Paste the copied text in the 'Value data' section of the 'Edit String' dialog. Then type \<filename> after the text you just pasted, where <filename> is the name of the file you want to open. Click 'OK', and your computer will now be set up to run that file every time you login!

I hope this helps, if you have any problems then just reply to this message.

A few assumptions being made there. The above post assumes that the calendar files is stored on the local computer.

If this is the case why would the OP be concerned about going on-line to open the calendar.

Dear Stuart S

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my plea for help.

I am sorry I had been too vague in the information supplied for you to be able to do much with my problem but I guess this only goes to show how little I know about computers!

The problem has now been solved by another kind person who replied to my question but thanks ever so much for trying to help me.
