Comment: Hi All I am about to install Visual C++ 6.0 Introductory Edition (it was free with a book) and just wondered if any of you had used it, and if so - why is it Introductory, what is missing, and why is it free...?! Thanks Tom

Reply: (edit)From what I could find on the net, three things are missing in the introductory edition that are available in the full edition: 1) Support. You are expected to use your teacher or your textbook or the internet for support issues. Don't call Mictrosoft. 2) On-line help. The help files are not installed. Use your teacher or your textbook or the internet. 3) (and most important) You can't build .exe files.

Reply: (edit)Thanks Jim. Your third point is the kind of thing I was looking for. I couldn't find any reference to this edition on the Microsoft site - where did you? Tom
