Hi All

I am about to install Visual C++ 6.0 Introductory Edition (it was free with a book) and just wondered if any of you had used it, and if so - why is it Introductory, what is missing, and why is it free...?!

Thanks

Tom

From what I could find on the net, three things are missing in the introductory edition that are available in the full edition:

1) Support. You are expected to use your teacher or your textbook or the internet for support issues. Don't call Mictrosoft.

2) On-line help. The help files are not installed. Use your teacher or your textbook or the internet.

3) (and most important) You can't build .exe files.

Thanks Jim. Your third point is the kind of thing I was looking for. I couldn't find any reference to this edition on the Microsoft site - where did you?

Tom
