Hi everyone
Anyone know where I can buy the Standard Edition of VC++ 6.0? I've checked most software shops I can think of, and amazon and ebay etc. No joy. Only ".net"
Thanks in advance
Tom

I guess just keep looking on ebay, I've seen it on there plenty of times before. Hehe, good call on the ".Net" crap. I dont see why anyone would want it.

I did a quick Ebay search. There are 3 copies
"Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 Standard" being bid on right now.I know what you mean by being hard to get. I needed a copy for a new computer I have at work. According to our distributer Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 licenses are no longer available. What you have to do is buy a
Visual C++ .Net license without any CD media.
You can then buy the media for that version or any lesser numbered version for that product. For example, if you bought a Visual C++ .Net Standard license you can legally install any one of Visual C++ .Net Standard, Visual C++ 6.0 Standard, Visual C++ 5.0 Standard, etc. Of course if you can lay your hands on a copy of the media then you do not have to even buy that.

First, I'm with you both on the .NET issue but on the flip side, it's going to be a part of programming whether we like it or not (you know how Mocrosoft is). I'm still not interested in it just the same. That's just the realist in me talking. As to getting the version 6. I bought it when it first came out so I lucked out their. I have a used/recycled computer shop here in Phoenix that I find things like that (for a much cheaper price than retail of course) so you may want to check around for something like that in your area. Other than that, I'm sure that (shudder) Microsoft would be happy to sell it to you :-(borelli34

Checked ebay: Nothing in England... boo!
The only thing available here is the .net standard edition. (at a pretty good price, though)
I wouldn't normally have a problem with it, but one fairly good reason is that it doesn't say its supported on 98se. And while I know "thems the breaks", it seems unfair that I can't get the older version which was designed with 98se in mind (as well as later os's, obviously). Not to even begin to mention compatability with all the support documentation I have amassed over the years.
And borelli - you're suprisingly wrong. Microsoft don't want to sell me v6.0. In fact, they have even gone so far as to stop all retail outlets in England from selling it. Even half baked outlets like "John Lewis" - I mean, what self respecting developer buys their kit from a supermarket??!
Bunch of cr@p!!
Tom

In England will they sell people the VC++ .Net license and VC++ 6.0 media like they are still doing in the States?

I was just searching Google to find a value for 4 boxes of MS C++ 6 standard edition, unopened, sealed boxes.
I was going to sell them on Ebay
What is the value to you?Email me
